User Level Permissions

The following are the different types of access a user can have.

  • Super users have access to everything in the Admin side (run reports, change organizational settings, theme)  and can make changes to everything.
  • Group Admins have access to update their group, approve join requests and add/ update resources, polls, etc if the group settings permissions are group owner only or only those with permissions. You can allow Leaders or ANY regular member to be given permissions over a group. In the group roster area the "Permissions" field is changed from Read to Update or Admin. These options are:
  • Read: Regular members have permissions to view the group's content.
  • Update: Give regular members the permission to add resources, events, polls, etc without full admin rights. These group permissions are set under Update profile> Contributions= Only those with permissions.
  • Admin: Allow members to have full admin rights to update the group settings, contribute resources and other content, and approve join requests. If permissions are set to Update Profile> Contributions= "only group owners (admins)"
  • Type Member or Leader: Most users are assigned as members, even if they have additional permissions as explained above. To assign individuals as leaders and have them appear under the Leaders tab on the group page, go to the group roster area. Change their Type to Leader and specify their role in the Position field (e.g., Secretary, Chair, President).
  • Moderators can only approve or reject discussions and based on group settings permissions can be the only ones to post discussions.
  • Regular members in good standing only have the permissions you give them which are typically to start and reply to discussions. In the group settings you can allow members to contribute in other ways (upload resources, create events, polls, newsletters... See admin above)
  • Nonmembers are typically given access on a case by case basis or locked down to a specific group and cannot access other features unless you have given them permission.
